Being of African descent Blacks have faced many challenges in America and have a long story of struggling on all levels. The Internet evens the playing field, it is a wealth of knowledge for those who have the desire to learn and apply what they learn in their lives Weather Financial Empowerment or establishing a Legacy for your family by creating generational wealth.

All many Black people have to do is go for it. It is possible and can happen, it may take a little work and effort but the rewards are there. This is why black prosperity is important for Black people to be able to take care of them selves their families and the communities in which they live. You have most definitely been exposed to some of the haunted houses, thanks to television, especially around Halloween. But why not try these tours yourself?

Imagine living in a haunted house – eating, sleeping and all the other activities – amidst a spooky environment. But where do you find haunted houses? here are the top four places recommended for all those who is itching for a chill down their spines:

Perhaps the spookiest of them all is the Burford House B & B in tombstone, AZ. This house, built in 1880 and owned by Ruth and Richard Allen have hosted many celebrities, including John Wayne. Interestingly, many of the guests have never really left the house, which includes one George who shot his fiancé for reasons of infidelity and then committed suicide. Many modern-day visitors have taken pictures of a man donning a cowboy hat who looks out of the window. The orbs and reflections are a boon for the ghost hunters. There are several other ghost inhabitants in this house, but not yet identified with any particular person.

Located a few minutes away from the French Quarter and Magazine Street is another famous haunted house – the Castle Inn in New Orleans. Built in 1891, this haunted house is famous for a horse carriage driver who frequents it. He got killed during a fire and keeps on playing some ghostly tricks on residents and guests. He appears translucent, staring at the guests or at times he is heard coughing or whistling. The other ghost is that of a little girl, who met with a tragic end in a pool close by. She still haunts the house as well as the neighborhood. She declares her presence with little noises of trotting about in the hallways or bouncing on the bed. The bed and breakfast arrangement has a large variety of luxurious rooms suitable for extended stay.

Then there is this double-storied Romanesque building built in 1897 called the Red Garter Bed and Bakery, situated in Williams, AZ. Here the friendly ghosts enjoy being photographed. It is believed that some of the residents of this erstwhile bordello and saloon, never really left the place. Apparently there is this woman with long dark hair who shows up in photos. You can hear footsteps in the hallways and noisy doors which slam in the middle of the night. The rooms of this house are large and comfortable and the location, very memorable.

Built in 1716, the Colonial Inn of Concord, Massachusetts also offers a spooky vacation. It has housed many celebrities, one of whom, in room 24, has not yet left. This room was used as an operation theater during the civil war and it could well be that some of those operated upon did not survive! and hence their spirit lives on.

Not only is a haunted vacation memorable on its own merits, but also great fun to do research on and find out more about the past historic facts. You can actually relive history in these houses, which has its own charm. In case you would much rather stay away from spooky adventures, there are other haunted house tours available which provide murder mystery nights and other dramatic outings for the guests.

If you don’t really care much about reliving history, a house riddled with an unsolved murder mystery could be your place. Such a house is the Lizzie Borden B & B. along with the ghosts, these houses are wonderful buildings to be admired, with or without your surreal friends.

That episode followed a U.S. Supreme Court decision just a few weeks ago not to review a lower court’s ruling that a similar class requirement in the Byron Union School District in California, where students were instructed to “become Muslims” was “cultural education.”

… In the California case that was litigated, Edward White III, of the Thomas More Law Center wondered, “Would it have been ‘just cultural education’ if students were in simulated baptisms, wearing a crucifix, having taken the name of St. John and with praise banners saying ‘Praise be to Jesus Christ’ on classroom walls?”

From Nyssa, Oregon, where one parent raised objections to the Islamic teachings, Supt. Don Grotting, said the text includes assignments for students to learn the “Five Pillars” and study Ramadan.

The course mandates that seventh-graders learn the tenets of Islam, study the important figures of the faith, wear a robe, adopt a Muslim name and stage their own jihad. Adding to this apparent hypocrisy, reports ANS, students must memorize many verses in the Koran, are taught to pray “in the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful” and are instructed to chant, “Praise to Allah, Lord of Creation.”

“We could never teach Christianity like this,” one outraged parent told ANS.

Elizabeth Christina Lemings, a teacher in the Byron, Calif., Union School District, was unaware of the course until her seventh-grade son brought home the handouts. Obtained by ANS, the handouts include a history of Islam and the life of Mohammad, its founder. There are 25 Islamic terms that must be memorized, six Islamic (Arabic) phrases, 20 Islamic proverbs to learn along with the Five Pillars of Faith and 10 key Islamic prophets and disciples to be studied.

“We can’t even mention the name of Jesus in the public schools,” Lemings laments, “but… they teach Islam as the true religion, and students are taught about Islam and how to pray to Allah. Can you imagine the barrage of lawsuits and problems we would have from the ACLU if Christianity were taught in the public schools, and if we tried to teach about the contributions of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and the Apostle Paul? But when it comes to furthering the Islamic religion in the public schools, there is not one word from the ACLU, People for the American Way or anybody else. This is hypocrisy.”

ANS reports that students are to pretend that they are Muslims, wear Muslim clothing to school, stage their own jihad via a dice game and pick out a Muslim name (to replace their own) from a list of thirty.

Happy Every Day: It’s Time To Celebrate the Fourth of July

Why do we have to wait for special holidays to celebrate the miracle of life? Isn’t it time we started to appreciate how much we have to be happy for every day of our lives?

It seems to me that many of us are taking the bounty of our lives for granted. We spend so much time wishing for more that we forget how much we already have.

We take for granted things like:

Good Health

A Loving Family

The Blessings of God

The Miracle of Our Faith

The Beauty All Around Us

Our Ability To Think and Reason

The Wonders of The World We Live In

Our Beliefs and Our Passions

The Kindness of Strangers

Our God Given Souls

The Miracle of Life Itself

The list could go on and on. Maybe you can think of some things that I have forgotten that we take for granted. Maybe you can help others become more aware of their surroundings and their blessings.

Don’t waste your time thinking about the bad things that have happened in your life. It won’t make them go away any sooner. It won’t make you happier. It will distract you from concentrating on all the good things you have to celebrate.

Concentrate on the positive. Having a positive attitude will help you be happier. Believe in a good future for yourself and your family and your chances of having one will improve dramatically. Have faith in yourself and your ability to be a force for good. Believe in God and all He has given us.

Isn’t it time we took the time to celebrate our lives by trying harder to make something more constructive of them. Perhaps that’s what the celebration should be all about: Our ability to try and do better, our passion to discover more of the meaning of life, and our ability to be thinking and kind human beings.

What a wonderful world this is for us to live and love and work in. Doesn’t it make you want to celebrate your existence every day of the year?

Even as Dubai’s rising expatriate population is being projected as a measure of its association with the outside world, many historians, media experts and political observers are looking at the same phenomenon with some concern these days. Very recently, an editorial in the Gulf News stated how eight out of every ten people living in the UAE were born abroad. This was expected to reach up to nine out of every ten by the year 2015. This scenario might become even more imbalanced by the year 2025, when the expatriate community will almost score ten out of every ten native citizens counted. This analysis is however hypothetical in kind, and there are factors overlooked by the author, which might actually decide a totally different demographic scenario in the years to follow.

First of all, the current crop of construction projects are expected to be over in the next 5 to 10 years, which will force up to 50% of the UAE’s expatriates to go back to their homelands. The expatriate population will still continue to remain quite significant though, as the properties being developed now will mostly by bought by the offshore clients later. The projected scenario of the Gulf News article can only arise, if the authorities kept announcing more and more new projects in the years to come. This could again be called a distant possibility, as no nation can ever dream of having an endless growth.

However, some related issues of these demographic upheavals might require attention by the authorities sooner than later. For example, outsiders can buy homes and properties but no land on which they were made. This limits their ability to have a say in the matters of policymaking in the UAE. How long will they continue to stay and share their knowledge, time and wealth if disallowed to have even the basic rights of a tenant? Remember, the UAE and Dubai are heavily dependent on both the cheap and the highly skilled labor from other nations. The local economy will crumble immediately the day outsiders were asked to leave the UAE. Either the ethnic Arab community will have to be self-reliant or be ready to provide greater rights to the expatriate community, to continue having an association that has benefited all involved.

There is no scope for any permanent citizenships being granted to the outsiders, as it can seriously interfere with the ethnic interests. But, what many observers are asking right now, is to let the outsiders have more say as tenants, and thus ensure their continuation in the UAE’s economy. Unless it was done so, the expatriates might think of moving away to other locations, thus curtailing the UAE’s commerce.

This brings us to the belief that the imbalanced demography of the UAE will have to be addressed by its administrators, so that their economic achievements didn’t get wasted down. It will be in the interest of all parties involved to have a lasting alliance between the ethnic Arabs and the outsiders. Despite the fact that no overnight solutions could be achieved for the above stated matter, one will still require looking for the answers for the sake of tomorrow.
